Google Translator

I’m sure that I could use the Google translator preparing lessons having students translate from English/Spanish or Spanish/English. Students could gain valuable understanding of both languages Spanish and English using this tool.

I am a bilingual teacher, native English speaker. Most of my parents are native Spanish speakers and many do not understand English. I prefer to communicate with parents using both languages. The Google translator will save me valuable time when I am in a hurry. I wouldn’t use it all of the time - it’s my experience with some effort, I can translate without the assistance of the Google Translator AND I need to keep my skills sharp in Spanish!

I tested some translations of quotes about Education from Great Quotes.com. Decisions for selections were based on my lerning experiences taking this MISD professional development aobu Web 2.0 - 23 Things.

See for yourself. What do you think about the Google Translator?

The only purpose of education is to teach a student how to live his life-by developing his mind and equipping him to deal with reality. The training he needs is theoretical, i.e., conceptual. He has to be taught to think, to understand, to integrate, to prove. He has to be taught the essentials of the knowledge discovered in the past-and he has to be equipped to acquire further knowledge by his own effort.

Spanish
El único propósito de la educación es enseñar a un estudiante como para vivir su vida mediante el desarrollo de su mente y el equipamiento de él para hacer frente a la realidad. La formación que necesita es teórico, es decir, conceptual. Él tiene que aprender a pensar, comprender, integrar, probar. Él tiene que ser enseñado lo esencial de los conocimientos descubiertos en el pasado, y él tiene que estar en condiciones de adquirir nuevos conocimientos por su propio esfuerzo.
