It’s like a science fiction movie and technology have arrived. In “TED Ideas worth spreading” you will see the future right before your eyes. Patti Maes describes the latest technology as the 6th Sense – it’s scary real yet intriguing. Or for those of us who already believe that there is a 6th sense, technology will be the 7th sense.

Futuristic technology is here in its earliest stages. Patti Maes describes and wears a device worn around the neck $350.It has a Web cam portable battery and communicates with cell phone in the pocket. It allows for interaction with any surface to acquire any information. You use your fingers like a stylus. Ladies the tools can be placed on your fingers as painted fingernails. The video shows the instrument actually in use.

With this technology, you will be able to:

  • Take a picture by using iconic gestures. This device uses system recognition to read the gesture and follow the command
  • Dial your telephone on your hand
  • Draw a watch on your hand to find out the time.
  • Watch video annotations of television programs projected on a blank sheet of paper.
  • See word clouds projected on the t-shirt of your friend that describe his favorite websites – virtually reading his mind.
  • Access meta information relevant to helping us make the right decisions and take appropriate actions.
  • Much More!
Watch the video. It’s real and it’s happening today.
What do you think will be the implications of such technology?
